polaroid

What is the strongest area of your work?  Why?
The strongest area of my work is the color scheme. I chose a neon blue and dark shades of grey along with pops of white to help the polaroids stand out.
What area of your work can be improved on? How?
The layout of my work could be improved. The polaroids are very large and take up a lot space. On the right side of picture there was so much empty space in the polaroids that I ended up having to cover it with leaves.
What was easy about this art activity? Explain.
The easiest thing about this art activity was drawing something to scan in.
What was difficult about this art activity? Explain.
The hardest thing was cutting out the picture so it fit into the polaroids - it was incredibly hard to see all the space and figure out what was overlapping and getting rid of the errors.
What mediums (materials) did you use? What tools in Photoshop/Illustrator did you use? How did you use them? Be specific.
I used the gradient for the background. The type tool to create the lyrics. I used a lot of text effects for drop shadows and gradients on the letters. I got the leaves and the polaroids off the internet. For the leaves, I changed their color with a gradient map and also added a drop shadow effect. For the polaroids, I only added a drop shadow. For the dead goldfish, I drew it by hand and scanned it in. I then placed a glow effect, drop shadow, a color overlay and a stroke effect.
How did you demonstrate the objective (the goal) in this art activity?
I made a polaroid self-portrait with the appropriate amount of polaroids, and a scanned in image, in the correct dimensions.
If you could do this art activity again, what would you do differently?
Change the color scheme, use a very different picture and try playing with the sizes of the polaroids.
