cortez clam factory logo

What is the strongest area of your work?  Why?
I think the strongest area of my work is the text because I spent a lot of time warping it and finding a theme that fits a beach theme. I also added some effects to the text to really make it stand out.
What area of your work can be improved on? How?
I think the clams could be improved. They don't really look like clams. It translated well on paper but when I redesigned it in illustrator the lines seemed to become more stiff. Also the colors don't really remind me of a clam. I think if I redesigned the logo to be come clam-esque and redid the colors it would look a lot best.
What was easy about this art activity? Explain.
The easiest thing about this art activity was creating 10 different sketches. Sketches are just rough drafts so its easy to brainstorm different things and draw them out + it doesn't have to be perfect.
What was difficult about this art activity? Explain.
The hardest thing about this art activity was creating the lines in Illustrator. Its always hard for me to redraw in illustrator because the lines seem to get lost when its digital. You cant recreate very curvy or bent lines in Illustrator easily.
What mediums (materials) did you use? What tools in Photoshop/Illustrator did you use? How did you use them? Be specific.
All of the lines and curves were drawn in Illustrator after I scanned in my pencil drawing. I also did the gradients for the clams in Illustrator along with drop shadow effects. In Photoshop, I added more drop shadows, rendered a lens flare and created the gradient background. I also did the text in Photoshop.
How did you demonstrate the objective (the goal) in this art activity?
The goal of this art activity was to create a logo for a clam factory that had a beach, laid back/casual vibe. I did all the sketches, scanned one in and redrew it in Illustrator. The colors are very subtle and reflect the themes.
If you could do this art activity again, what would you do differently?
I'd choose a different theme.
